Tourist Guide Corby
Corby is a local administration head quarters and an industrial town. It is at a distance of 13km on the northern side of Kettering.
The population of the town is 53,500.
In the year 1226, Henry III permitted the citizens of Corby, to arrange annual fairs and markets. In 1568, the Queen announced a charter as per which the local landowners were exempted from taxes and tolls. Since 1862, to celebrate this, an event takes place every 20 years, it is known as Corby Pole Fair. During the 19th century the ironstone developed here, and with which came the railways.
