Tourist Guide Cowes
Cowes lies on the bank of the Medina River on the Isle of Wight in the southeast of England.
This seaport town has a population of 16,925 as per the 1991 census. Being well known for sailing, the town has one of the world’s finest yacht clubs called the Royal Yacht Squadron.
The local industry is centred on ship building and boat making and the manufacturer of the flying boat, Saunders Roe also lived here.
The town is known for the yachting regatta which is held here annually in the 1st week of August.
The town experiences a gentle and temperate climate which suited the royal families who lived here. The annual rainfall is quite high and is almost on a par with that of Melbourne.
