Dartmouth Castle is built at the mouth of the Dart River in the 15th century and was especially designed for artillery. It has a round tower and a square one built near each other and another castle on the opposite side of the bank to protect the town from French pirates.

Blackpool Gardens has breathtaking coastal views and displays a rare variety of ferns, trees and shrubs mainly from the south, giving an unusual sub-tropical look to the place.

Dartmouth Museum is situated in an ancient Merchant house. This museum which dates back to 1640 has a lovely collection of ships including a wide photographic library.

Blackpool Sands is a lovely well kept beach with clear blue sea water and surrounded by pines and evergreen trees. One can spend a nice time here with one’s family and either sail, swim or relax on the beach.

The Newcomen Engine is a memorial built in the memory of Thomas Newcomen who was the great inventor of the atmospheric steam engine.
