This splendid chateau of French-style took thirteen long years with regards to completion. It’s French, both, with respect to inspiration and architectural design; completely in contrast with modern English museums that followed ‘classical designs’. Stone had been quarried at adjacent ‘Bowes Estate’ at ‘Streatlam’. Bowes Museum has been dedicated to decorative and fine arts of Europe at the time of medieval period.
