Tourist Guide East Midlands
The East Midlands region has an area of 15,627 sq km and a population of around 4 million people.
East Midlands is one of the nine regions of England. It takes up most of the eastern part of the Midlands region in the country and consists of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Nottinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire. Most of the towns are 1 to 3 hours from the country’s capital city, London.
It is said that there’s something for everyone in the East Midlands. With over one million international visitors annually, the region has stately homes and castles reminiscent of its rich history and heritage. A wealth of festivals and attractions mark the culture of the land, which sees the biggest Diwali celebrations outside of India, and is regarded as the home of test match cricket.
