The town of Glastonbury hold many secrets and myths. The mythologies and secrets attract large number of tourists. Glastonbury Abbey is the major tourist attraction in the town.

The abbey is considered to be the oldest Christian church in the whole world. The abbey is surrounded by many mysteries as it is located on the spiritual land of Avalon. The abbey is believed to have been founded in AD 63. Glastonbury abbey is famous for the legends of Joseph of Arimathea. According to the legends, the Holy Grail was brought here by Joseph.

The Glastonbury Thorn was also supposedly planted by Joseph. Another attraction in Glastonbury town is the famous Glastonbury Tor. Tor means ‘conical hill’ in the Celtic language.

The Tor is located in Summerland Meadows which was fenland and the Tor rose up out of it. Initially, it was an island, where traces of Glastonbury Lake Village have been found. The village dates back to 300 to 200 BC. The legends of King Arthur are also connected with this town.
