Halifax lies in the metropolitan Borough of Calderale in West Yorkshire and has been well known as a centre of wool manufacture since the 15th century.

The town has a population of 82,056 inhabitants out of which 87% are Caucasians and most of them are employed on a full time basis.

The population density of the town is 530/km². The South Asian community here consists mainly of Pakistani Muslims.

The centre of the town has a busy nightlife with a lot of clubs and bars to choose from.

The Woolshops retail district is the best place if one is looking for good bargains while shopping for clothes, cards and more. The climate is humid and mild and the rains are unpredictable all through the year.

Tourists come here to enjoy the charm of a small town life as well as the vivacity of living in the city.
