Tourist Guide Henlow
Henlow lies in the district of Mid Bedfordshire in the east of England.
This small town has around 3084 inhabitants.
The name Henlow is said to be derived from the word ‘henna hlaw’, which means a hill frequented by wild birds.
There are a number of manor farms in this village as the village came under the possession of three separate manors namely Henlow De Grey, Henlow Warden and Henlow Llanthony.
Being in the east of England, the region experiences dry, windy and cold climatic conditions. For a number of years the town made contributions to the schools, parish houses and employment sector.
However the majority of the people existed on agriculture and were economically deprived. Straw plaiting was the main cottage industry and prior to that the town was known for its bowstring making.
