The village is of special architectural and historic interest with many of the buildings being listed. Many buildings are mostly traditional designed of 18th century. The village facilities include a post office and a church with regular bus service operating to Nottingham and Kimberley.

St. Mary Magdalene Church near Hucknall is a grade I listed building. Many beautiful carvings and wall mosaics are around the church. It is one of largest and best collections of stained glass windows. The tourist attractions in the surroundings include Papplewick's ancient church, the village's conservation area, boasting 18th century cottages, and Papplewick Hall.  The facinating Papplewick Pumping Station, the UK's finest Victorian water works, lies 2 km to the east of the village. The most interesting cities in the surroundings are Kimberley, Arnold, Ravenshead and Eastwood. The Hucknall Airport is the nearest airport to Hucknall city.
