Ilfracombe is the beautiful seaside resort situated in Devon County, England, UK.
It is a tiny harbour, which is bordered by cliffs. The town is spread across the shore. It spreads towards the east from Hele Bay’s ‘The Coastguard Cottages’, to the Lee Bay on the west. Due to presence of hills and cliffs, Ilfracombe is also a well-known hill-walking resort.
The place is a famous tourists spot due to its pleasant weather. It is the third warmest town in the United Kingdom. Ilfracombe generally experiences bright sunshine during the warmer months. On the contrary, the sea surrounding the town is highly changeable. Spring and summers are the best seasons to visit this Victorian town.
The people in the Ilfracombe are proud of their heritage. Hence, every year they come together for six different carnivals and celebrate. The town flourishes in all types of activities like music, performing arts and sports.
The population of this place is currently 11,000. The economy of Ilfracombe suffered twice. Firstly in 1960s, due to the change in the UK holiday format and in 1970, since the railway line was closed.
