Luton Airport is the 5th busiest airports of UK and handled a total of around ten million passengers in 2007.
Various airlines operating from here include Thomsonfly, easyJet, Ryanair, Monarch Airlines, Silver jet and Wizz Air.
The new terminal built in 1998 was made from glass and aluminum and cost about 40 million pounds. It was inaugurated officially in 1999 by the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh and has sixty check in desks and a wide range of restaurants, bars, shops and flight information systems.
