The Albert Memorial is located in Kensington Gardens in London, England. Commissioned by Queen Victoria in fond memory of her husband, Prince Albert, who died in 1861 of typhoid, the 176 feet tall memorial was exclusively designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott. This memorial is designed in the Gothic revival style and opened in 1872, with the statue of Albert seated ceremonially in 1875, facing south.
