In 1996, part of the city centre of Manchester was destroyed by an IRA bombing; this fatal incidence damaged major buildings in this area. However, the government quickly replaced what was lost in the bombing: new structures rose on the devastated land of Exchange Square in Manchester. The renovation area now has the name of the Millennium Quarter.
In the Millennium Quarter is located the famous Urbis Centre.
