Tourist Guide Neston
As per the 2001 Census, the population of Neston was recorded as 3,521. The population of Great Newton was 1,486 in 1801 and 1, 5224 in 1851. In 1894, both Little Newton and Great Neston were combined to create Neston cum Park gate. By 1901, the population had risen to 2,201.
Neston was a major port before the River Dee was built up. Neston is also a former mining town having a colliery which is located at the nearby hamlet of Denhall. Opened in 1760, the coal mine had many shafts, some of which were dug out from underneath the river.
The winters are chilly and wet in this town. The summer days are moderate with temperatures in 60s and 70s. It is always recommended to wear sweaters and umbrellas when visiting the town in winter.
