Newbiggin-by-the-Sea: Attractions and more...
Attractions in Newbiggin by the sea include the fourteenth century parish church and a small heritage centre. Newbiggin is one of the area’s prime locations for watching the North Sea seabird passage during spring and autumn. Newbiggin hosts an annual street fair that attracts thousands of people every year, a huge fair that expanded over many years. Fishing has always been associated with Newbiggin. Newbiggin by the sea was Northumberland’s favorite seaside town, attracting hundreds of visitors every day in the summer months. The main summer attractions are the Newbiggin by the sea summer Fair taking place during the month of July and later in August.
Small boat enthusiasts will enjoy Newbiggin by the sea sailing club. Offering dinghy sailing both on the coast and inland, the use of a man made lake located nearby is available during the winter season. This allows a full spring, summer and winter club sailing programme. St. Bartholomew’s church remains a focal point at the north end of the bay, whilst to the south the sandy bay caravan park continues to attract many visitors.
