Nottingham castle had been built in the year 1068 by none other than William, the Conqueror. It was built on a small ridge consisting of sandstone.
It had been close to; however, separate with respect to Nottingham’s old English Borough. An interesting fact is that the above-mentioned castle is closely linked with legend of ‘Robin Hood’ and Sherriff of ‘Nottingham’.
