Spread over an area of 67.1 Km2 Oldham is a large city of Greater Manchester.

It is situated among the Pennines on raised ground between the Irk and Medlock Rivers. The city has a population of 103,544 people.

The city is a centre for performing arts and further education.

Most of Oldham’s architecture is Victorian.

It is an administrative centre for smaller settlements that form the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham.

It was the first ever industrialized city in England. It rose to fame as a boomtown for textile manufacturer during the Industrial Revolution and it is still architecturally distinguished by the existing cotton mills.

The climate here is temperate maritime with relatively mild winters and cool summers.

It has a high humidity level. Rainfall is regular but usually light during the year. 

However heavy snowfall may cause the roads leading out of the town to be closed.
