Tourist Guide Pendlebury
Pendlebury is a town which is situated within the metropolitan borough in the City of Salford in Grater Manchester in England. It lies 4.1 miles to the Northwest of Manchester City center and 3.4 miles to the Northwest of Salford.
Historically, Pendlebury was a part of Lancashire. Together with its neighboring settlements of Swinton and Clifton, Pendlebury formed the municipal borough of Swinton and Pendlebury. This town existed as a centre for coal mining for many years and there was an extensive coal extraction from many pits up until the Agecroft Colliery got closed in the 1990s.
This town sits on a high ridge which overlooks the lower Irwell Valley and is midway between Bolton and Manchester. Pendlebury still has a mix of residential and industrial areas irrespective of losing all of its mines and textile mills.
