Peterborough is a cathedral city situated on the banks of Nene River, Cambridgeshire, England. The city is a major industrial as well as a cultural centre and houses one of the finest Norman churches in England, the Peterborough Cathedral. The population of this quaint city is around 160,000 inhabitants.
With a dominating flat topography, Peterborough has an overall moderate climate which is highlighted by warm summers and chilling winters. Spring is the best season to visit the city.
Historically, the city dates back to the Bronze Age and was initially inhabited by the Romans. Industrial development was rapid, and the city came to be noted for its brick manufacturing. Today, it is one of the most successful economies of East England.
