The town of Richmond is a major settlement of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. Located to the North-East of Richmond Bridge, the town covers an area of 57.41 km2, of which 5,000 acres is open space. The city has a population of 179,500.
Richmond is a green city. It is surrounded by large areas of accessible open areas. There are a number of parks to visit. The river side area contributes to the city’s attraction. You can hire a skiff or take a ride on a large tour boat departing hourly from the Richmond side of Thames.
Richmond experiences a temperate marine climate. Rainfall is regular but generally light throughout the year. The warmest month is July and the coolest month is January. On average February is the driest month. Since the Thames is a tidal river, the city is susceptible to flooding. Snowfall is relatively uncommon here.
