Rochester is a home of historical monuments, structures and architecture.

The town and its nearby regions were armed by the Normans, Saxons and Romans. Hence, tourists can see the old buildings or what remains of them from these periods.

Rochester Cathedral is a Norman structure and the second oldest church in England. The exterior as well as its interior are major attractions in Rochester. Similarly, Rochester Castle is a famous historical spot.

The castle overlooks a wonderful view of the River Medway, on the banks of which the castle is located. The castle was built in the 11th century. The castle was cordoned twice, once in 1215 and again in 1264.

The High Street of Rochester is called the Charles Dickens Centre, since the town was a favourite of Dickens’ for a long time.

The museum holds a large collection of art pieces that represent the rich heritage of this region.

The museum building was constructed in  the17th century. Upnor castle is located nearby.
