Tourist Guide Royal Tunbridge Wells
Royal Tunbridge Wells lies on the north of the Weald and is located in west Kent in England.
This spa town, which is a short distance from London, has a population of about 56,500.
The discovery of the Chalybeate Spring in 1606 changed the history of the town, as it became the favoured destination of rich aristocrats who wished to take short breaks while visiting the UK.
The spring water was believed to have medicinal properties and a number of taverns, lodgings and residential buildings were build around the area.
Tunbridge Wells thus became a popular spa resort for visitors in the winter season. There are several castles, gardens and royal homes of famous people here.
The city has a mild and cloudy winter and cooler summer if compared to the cities in the east of England.
