Oliver Cromwell had been born in the year 1599 in ‘Huntington’. He went on to become Lord protector in the year 1653; i.e. Head of a ‘British Republic’. Rise on his part was not ordinary. Objective of Cromwell Museum is that of interpreting his legacy and life via portraits, objects, and documents linked with Cromwell.
Cromwell Museum got opened in the year 1962 within the ‘old grammar’ school. It was the place where Cromwell had studied. He is said to have been driven by religion right from 1630s. he was also actively involved in ‘English Civil Wars’ which had taken place in the 1640s. his skill in the form of a politician and his triumph on battlefield led him to have become ‘Lord protector’.
This museum goes on to set out neither to have celebrated nor denigrated his achievements but to have interpreted significance of ‘God’s Englishman’.
Timings
In summers, Cromwell Museum remains open from Tuesdays to Sundays between 1030 and 1230 hrs and 1330 and 1600 hrs. In winters, the timings are: 1330 to 1600 from Tuesdays to Fridays and Sundays and on Saturdays between 1030 and 1230 and 1330 and 1600.
