Sheffield is located in Yorkshire County, north of England. This town of approximately 520,700 inhabitants is also home to a large student population owing to the two universities founded here.
Sheffield has a fairly extreme climate. July and August are the warmest months with the average temperature at 22°C. During winter, the average temperature is 7°C, but occasionally it may fall below the freezing point.
Sheffield is located within valleys surrounded by seven hills and watered by several streams and rivers. It is this ideal location that made Sheffield a prosperous town, first, due to agriculture and then, the Industrial Revolution.
It is often referred to as the ‘Antiques Capital of the Berkshires’ because of the large volumes of antique trade conducted here.
