Crucible Theatre was opened in 1971 and was built on the site of a well known city landmark called the Adelphi. This theatre forms an integral part of the Sheffield Theatres Complex. It is the main producing venue within the group. It is a grade 2 listed building which is noted for its 980 seat auditorium.
The theatre also hosts the world snooker championships annually and has also hosted the International Squash and Table Tennis Championships.
