South Normanton is a medium sized village located above Alfreton in Bolsover district, Derbyshire County, England.

The village is famous for its mines, which are now closed, agriculture and stocking spinning.

The word Normanton means the ‘north men’s farm’. The village consists of three major economical sources. Initially, the village was purely agricultural. Later on, industries like tanning, mining and framework knitting came into the picture. These industries now have established the village’s economy.

South Normanton is located in the East Midlands of England. Hence, it possesses a typical colder English climate.

The summer season experiences higher rainfall; while the winters experience sunshine for a few hours.

The winters are harshly cold. However, they remain constant throughout the year and rarely get extreme. Due to the economical growth and better climate, the region is densely populated with 8,035 people.
