South Shields can be referred to as one of the coastal towns in ‘Tyne and Wear, England’; situated at mouth of ‘River Tyne’. It’s, in fact a portion of South Tyneside’s metropolitan borough; that is inclusive of riverside towns- Hebburn and Jarrow; and also hamlets of Whitburn, Cleadon, and Boldon. In parliament, South Shields has been represented by David Milliband, a person representing the ‘Labor Party’.

South Shields has been located in ‘peninsula setting’; wherein ‘River Tyne’ goes on to meet ‘North Sea’. It can boast of coastline of 6 miles and river frontage of 4 miles. Westoe village is the most ancient part of South Shields. It comprises of a calm street of Victorian and Georgian houses. Most of them have been built by business tycoons of town.
