This thriving modern city of England proudly welcomes visitors from all over the world.
Southampton, being the largest city on the south coast of Hampshire County in the UK, covers an area of 51-81 sq/km.
It has a population of approximately 228,600, 7 % of which are non–white, which shows the diversity of the city.
It is a hot spot for shopping, sports, entertainment and food.
It is not only the greenest city of the region but has plenty of parks, open spaces, beaches and picturesque country lanes.
The moderate climate also adds to its charm. This important port city was formed by the Romans some 2000 years ago. A historically rich city, it was from here that the Mayflower sailed for the New World in 1620.
The Titanic, too, sailed towards its unfortunate destiny from here in 1912.
Southampton is also said to be the cruise capital of Europe. Rich culture thrives with music concerts, films, theatre, ballet, comedy clubs, opera and traditional pantomime.
