This church stands out from others due to its stony body. It, along with St. Paul’s Church located in Jarrow are portions of twin ‘Anglo-Saxon’ monastery pertaining to ‘Wearmouth-Jarrow’; which is supposed to be nomination of UK for ‘World heritage Site status in the year 2010.
Sunderland Empire
Opened in the year 1907, Sunderland Empire can be described as the biggest theater of the North East; and also a gorgeous example of ‘Edwardian architecture’. Refurbishment worth 4.5 million pounds took place in the year 2005. It can now boast of facilities pertaining to the 21st century. It’s the sole theater between Edinburgh and Manchester which has the caliber to stage huge West End productions. Circus of Horrors, cabaret, Lord of the Dance, etc. can be cited as 2009 highlights.
