Tourist Guide Taunton
Situated in the South West of England, the country town of Somerset, Taunton lies on the River Tone, in an area called the Vale of Taunton between Brendon, Blackdown and the Quantock hills.
The city has a total population of 88,241 with a total “Taunton Urban Area” population of 58,241 that includes the Bishop’s Hull, Staplegrove and Galmington suburbs.
Musgrove Park Hospital, the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office and Country Cricket ground are located here. Taunton has been hosting the Taunton Flower Show since 1866 in Vivary Park and also participates in the annual West Country Carnival.
The climate is temperate, usually milder and wetter than other parts of the country. The city shows a seasonal and diurnal variation in the climate with January as the coldest month and July and August as the warmest. Rain falls mostly in autumn and winter. The city offers quality attractions, culture and events.
