The main attraction of the city is Somerset Country Museum which exhibits a massive collection of archaeological objects in addition to coins, pottery, fossils, costumes and much more.
Special exhibitions during the year display textiles, photographs and ceramics. Admission is free and there are facilitates fir wheelchair users. The early 12th century Taunton Castle also attracts visitors with its great archaeological structure.
A tiny Almshouse, popular for school trips, offers tours showing visitors around the site and demonstrates how it was constructed. A walk through the 40 acres of Hestercombe Gardens gives you breath-taking views of vivid colours, woodlands and lakes.
Open throughout the year, the site combines three period gardens. Enjoy the 17th century Georgian landscape in addition to the Victorian terrace and shrubbery complemented by the fabulous Edwardian gardens.
