Wakefield is a city located on the banks of the River Calder. The administrative centre and the urban core of the city together make the metropolitan city of Wakefield. It is located in West Yorkshire County of the Yorkshire and Humber region of England.
The city is densely populated with 76, 886 people as per the 2001 census. Wakefield was included as the municipal borough in the year 1848. The City of Wakefield is an important place in terms of transport in West Yorkshire County.
There are two railway stations situated in the centre of the city. All the major spots in the city and outside it are covered by the trains originating from these stations.
This region possesses a pleasant weather throughout the year. The winters are relatively milder, while the summers are cooler. Due to such a climate, tourists can visit the place in any season through the year.
During winter, Wakefield village experiences a cold dry climate. The dry weather can continue in the summers also. Hence, sometimes this region faces conditions like drought. The temperature varies during the day. It is lower at night. January is the coldest month, while the warmest month is July.
