Ellesmere Centre

At the center of this town, there is a local shopping precinct which is named as the Ellesmere Centre. It adjoins the retail park. This retail park was built when the Ellesmere centre’s transformation from outdoor shopping precinct to indoor covered shopping center.  The park plays host to a number of tenants which includes the 24 hours of Tesco superstore, a Buckingham Bingo hall and a total fitness gym. There is also a sports store and a furniture store named the Walmsley’s Furnishings along with a blockbuster video store.

Blackleach Country Park

Blackleach Country Park is another attraction which is in the old industrial area of Walkden. Originally it was created to be used by the factories. However, these factories moved and the reservoir was left. The lake was split in half and at present half of the lake is home to the wildlife reserve and the other half acts as a reservoir.

Bolton road

Bolton road is another of the must see places in Walkden. It is considered as one of the main roads through Walkden and leads to Bolton via Farnworth. There are various banks along with building societies which include the Nationwide, Halifax and many more. There is also local business sections like the PC Concepts and Studios of Tattoo making and Body Piercing.
