The Magherafelt area is a great place for sight seeing, as it is situated between the mountains Lough Neagh and the Sperrin. The most famous places that are to be visited in magherafelt are Bellaghy Bawn, which is the historical era of plantation of Ulster. This fort was built in 1618. The Forge is a blacksmiths cottage which was built in the 18th century and is still in its original state.
The town of Magherafelt is a site of religious significance since ancient times. St Lurach’s church dates back to the 10th century and it is the oldest of church of Ireland.
