Der Alexanderplatz befindet sich im Stadtteil “Mitte“, im östlichem Teil der Stadt. Er ist benannt nach dem russischen Zaren Alexander I., der 1805 Berlin einen Besuch abgestattet hatte. Deshalb wird er von den Berlinern liebevoll „Alex“ genannt.
Mitten auf dem Platz befinden sich der Brunnen der Völkerfreundschaft und die Weltzeituhr.
Dominiert wird der Platz von dem schwindelerregenden hohen Fernsehturm (365), dessen Drehcafè und Aussichtsplattform atemberaubende Ausblicke über die Stadt bieten.
Interessant sind auch, das Berolinerhaus, das Alexanderhaus und die Kongresshalle (heute: Alexanderstraße 11).
