Tourist Guide Bearsden

Bearsden is a township situated in East Dunbartonshire, Scotland. Positioned to the northwestern fringe of Greater Glasgow, and is in fact a suburb of Glasgow. It is more or less 6 miles from Glasgow City Centre, and lies near the Roman Antonine Wall. Bearsden was primary known as New Kilpatrick. The current name Bearsden was created from the 1863 built railway station, but the foundation of the name itself is unanswered.

 

Bearsden is defined as a bear's den with pressure on both syllables. The Scots motto on the Bearsden coat of arms is "Bear the Gree", which entails 'to take first place
