Fort George is situated at a distance of 16 miles from Beauly. This is the mightiest artillery fortification in Britain. The elaborate eighteenth century bastioned defences and initial garrison buildings have survived the test of time and are intact. The area of this fort is 42 acres. 21 years were required to construct this fort. It is located to the Northeast of Inverness on a barren spit of land.
