Avoid conversation with football fans and stating your preference of the football teams you support with the locals as they can become pretty aggressive. Try to divert the conversation to other lighter topics.
Watch your waist while trying the delicacies in Glasgow as they can be high in fat. During the football season avoid wearing blue or green as you might be mistaken for a supporter of a particular football team such as Celtic or Rangers. Avoid discussing issues such as the Queen, Pope or sensitive issues which can trigger an argument.
Check the prices before parking a car as parking charges are high, especially if you plan parking for a long time. There are several steep slopes around the city which are best avoided by the older person. The Princess Square is a fancy shopping centre, but the prices here are high as well so be aware of this before purchasing anything.
