The Italian Chapel is built on a tiny island of Lamb Holm and was constructed in 1942 by Italian prisoners of war. These prisoners transformed the war time hut to a beautiful building. The prisoners were in need of overcoming the labor shortage for working on the continuing construction of the Churchill Barriers. They built the chapel so they could have a place to perform mass prayers.
