Beltane is the local festival of Peebles and takes place on the first day of the month of May. As an ancient Gaelic festival, this festival was also celebrated in Scotland, Ireland and the Isle of Man. Since 1988, there has been a revised Beltane Fire festival which is held during the night of 30th April each year on Calton Hill. This festival is attended by thousands of local people and tourists.
