Port Glasgow: Attractions and more...
There are various places in Port Glasgow that can be visited .The visitors main attraction is the Newark Castle. This castle was built in the year 1484.Once it was the home of the Maxwell Family until the year 1694. The castle is now looked after by the Historic Society of Scotland and is one of the visitor’s main attractions.
There are other places around like Park Hill and Park farm which are in the upper eastern part of the town. All the streets are named after the Scottish Island. From this place you can have a wonderful eagle’s view of the Clyde River and the Highlands. You can reach this place by rail also. The other places you can visit are Robert Street, Town Center, Spring Hill, Chapelton and Slaemuir. One of the holy places near this port is the ‘Our Lady’s Well’. This well was restored in the year 1836 and still remains there. Port Glasgow can be reached by rail, air as well as road.
