High Wycombe 10
On the 25/10/12, I Ryan Daley went to visit a well-known and rumoured town… High Wycombe. There have been many things said about this town, some good and some bad. Well today I had had enough and decided to find out for myself what Wycombe is really like. From where I live (Hemel Hempsted) I managed to get a 45 minute bus drive to the EDEN centre which I believe is in the very heart of the town. To get here I passed through many tranquil and small villages which were surprising because we were getting so close to wycombe. Then all of a sudden the area turned to an urban populated city, where the roads you to be quiet were now busy and the paths were littered with people. Dunstable 1
Dunstable is a place I only go to if I really have to. Dunstable lacks everything a shopper would look for. The "shopping centre" is full of closed shops, and the shops that are open offer very limited choice. The traffic in Dunstable is terrible at peak times(morning,lunchtime, evening). I once counted 18 sets of traffic lights from the junction with Houghton rd to the Nissan garage (which is now closed!). Baffling! It is a real shame because Dunstable is so full of history but Central Beds council and the Highways agency seem to think that putting up some hanging baskets and agreeing to the building of a guided busway to Luton will revitalise this town. WRONG. Mary Portis came to Dunstable a few years ago to try to help and even she gave up! Unfortunately Dunstable is a town that people...
