The Brecon Mountain Railway is situated 3 miles to the north of Merthyr Tydfil and takes tourists to the Brecon Beacons National Park. It is owned and operated by the Brecon Mountain Railway Ltd. and is only 31/2 miles in length. There are plans for expanding this line till Torpantau. The Brecon and Merthyr Railway operated prior to 1930 in the region.
