Bridgend can be referred to as a town located in County Borough of Bridgend, Wales, UK.
Bridgend stands mid-way between Swansea and Cardiff. The name ‘Bridgend’ has been derived from ‘River Ogmore’; which has been crossed by ‘original bridge’. However, ‘River Ewenny’ passes towards southern part of Bridgend as well.
From the historical point of view, this city has hugely expanded in terms of size since early 80s. Moreover, as per 2001 census, its population was 39429.
Bridgend has still been seen by several people as one of the ‘scruffy’ towns. In a way, this has been an eye-opener; as investment with regards to regeneration of certain untidy portions of town is being understandably welcomed.
Creation of a ‘riverside culture’ by the way of having constructed a walk-way along ‘River Ogmore’ near ‘old bridge’; thereby having opened up rear end of properties which face the river. It has been hoped to get completed by the end of the year 2009.
