Tourist Guide Carmarthen

Carmarthen, also known as Caerfyrddin, is the county town of Carmarthenshire, Wales. Located along the Tywi River, it is home to a population of about 14,000 inhabitants. This market town is also the administrative and cultural centre of the county, apart from being a major tourist destination.

Blessed with a mild climate, the region is typified by warm summers and cool winters. Although the overall climate is moderate, the rainy season is an exception with heavy rains experienced every year.

Regarded as the oldest town in Wales, Carmarthen has been industrially active since a long time with agriculture and wool manufacture being the basic activities. In recent times, the economy of the region is based on farming, textiles, mining and tourism.
