The Kidwelly Castle is an excellent example of the thirteenth century castle designs. The castle is a fine monument which depicts the Norman power as the castle was restructured a number of times. It was first established by Roger who was the bishop of Salisbury on a rocky site above the mouth of the Gwendraeth Fach. The castle was captured several times by the Welsh, but finally returned back to the Normans in the 12th and 13th century.
