The Hay Festival is an annual literature festival started by Peter Florence in 1988 to promote literature and art. It is held in the city for 10 days from May to June. The festival has now expanded its activities to include film reviews and musical performances. In 2001, Bill Clinton, described this festival as ‘The Woodstock of the mind’. There are almost 80,000 people coming for this festival which is sponsored by The Guardian newspaper.
