It is a sea county; it is surrounded by the sea. Its population is 114, 131. It boasts of a 170 miles of coastline, which includes vital seabird reproduction sites, with numerous bays and sandy beaches.
Pembrokeshire Coast National Park includes the complete coast. It was established as a county which had a power of ruling a territory, in 1138 with Gilbert de Clare, as the first Earl of Pembroke.
