We would like to welcome you to the Backpack Guesthouse, the oldest hostel in Budapest. Since 1992 we have been helping travellers explore our beautiful city, and providing them with a home away from home, and temporary family.
Probably one of the best Hostels in Eastern Europe, and a haven for individual travellers and small groups, over the past 16 years the Backpack Guesthouse has become more of a community than just a hostel. Located about 12 minutes from the city centre (with excellent transport links 24hrs), in a leafy residential street in Buda we have a magical chill out garden, with fruit trees, hammocks and a Mongolian Yurt.
Our friendly and well-travelled live-in staff will do everything they can to make your stay as enjoyable as possible, making you feel at home, and helping you meet other travellers. We believe we can make most people happy. We always enjoy showing people Budapest’s underground attractions, and leading nighttime missions. Alternatively you can stay at home, and relax in our large common room, complete with comfy couches, T.V, massive film collection and free Nargile (Turkish water-pipe).
Why not take advantage of our cheap beer and extensive music collection, cook in style in our large and well-equipped kitchen, complete with helpful communal food cupboard, or alternatively order in a gigantic pizza, or some local cuisine. Relax with a cup of free herbal tea or coffee on our balcony, surf our free internet/Wifi, or just hang out and chat to the staff!
We offer both large (10 bed) and small (5 bed) dorms, plus two doubles. Each room has a unique and colourful theme including ‘Bob Marley’, ‘Aquarium’ and ‘Goa’, designed by a local Hungarian artist.
Whether you come for a short visit, or decide to stay awhile, we hope you will enjoy living here as much as we do.
