Calgary International Airport is an important airbase in Canada. It serves the city of Calgary in Alberta and its surrounding regions.
The airport lies 17 km from the downtown area of Calgary city. Being an international airport, it has become the 3rd busiest airport in Canada. In 2007, the airport served nearly 248,548 flights and 12.24 million passengers.
It offers non-stop flights on a daily basis to cities in the United States, Europe and Canada.
This airport has a huge cargo storing space. Here, 4 Boeing 747s can land at a time. The cargo airlines include DHL, Purolator and FedEx. The destinations covered by the airport are British Columbia, Mexico, Texas, Germany, Ontario, California and many more.
Some of the major airlines of Europe are served by this airport. These include, Westjet, Air Transat, Air Canada, American Airlines and Thomas Cook. The airport is provided with a Rental Car Centre. Several on-airport and off-airport car rentals are available here.
